So far, I was not a particular fan of Sony's DSC-W series, despite the large overall success. Again, it seemed the fans especially on the design. Image noise (the dark areas so pixelated in low Lichtverhältnisssen) too strong and the shutter lag is not really good - for my taste, however, were - also as with many other cameras in this class. The new DSC-W80 and DSC-W90 Sony however make a great step forward, because they provide three big plus: ++ Mechanical and optical Image Stabilizer ++ Powerful processor for focusing and continuous shooting ++ Face Detection You can deliver old strengths continue: ++ Metallic, chic and durable housing + Good, fast lens (Schneider Kreuznach) Line through the image stabilizer, the image quality is significantly improved, especially in low light. However, the image quality is still hanging back over the Fuji F31fd / F20. So: - At ISO 400 the image rustles always visible, very clearly at ISO 800, with not flashed moving objects including the dual image stabilization remains powerless. This will probably be in the DSC-W90 by the smaller single chip CCD (8.2 megapixels) again worse than the DSC-W80 - Display neither tall nor especially in high resolution - Zoom a little grobstufig - And this many tiny buttons! For my fingers really nothing. Too close together. The camera had been tested very extensively for my sister; she wanted to ultimately save money and forgo the new extras and the Sony has but then opted for the F20. One can understand - but remains the good impression: Sony has really developed here two good cameras.
