So every now and then germinated a desire for something more compact lens - either a light strong telephoto prime lens or a telephoto zoom 70-300mm on Ala.
Decisive for the purchase was certainly the argument of the price. For ~ 300 new Image Stabilizer and USD-drive it would therefore be worth a try I thought. So it was then that I summarily decided on the Tamron 70-300 VC USD for my "full-frame camera".
Expectations of the lens were in spite of many positive reviews rather split if I'm honest, because normally I avoid zooms with a light intensity slower than f2.8 - f4.
The objective was to be expected as swift as an arrow delivered directly from Amazon - brand new and well packed.
The first tests I made in the evening in a dimly lit apartment ... clear - the ISO values fast then quickly upwards at an aperture of 5.6 .... On the other hand holds the Bilstabilisator what it promises. The activation can be clearly heard - but compared to 17-50er VC which I know much more pleasant.
The viewfinder image appears then as if nailed - even at full telephoto focal length. After the first shots, I felt the sharpness of surprisingly good - einzigst at the long end of the 300m glass my first impression but then falls open somewhat so.
The second and more realistic test then surrendered the next day - in sunlight and good conditions ... So where you used the environment a telephoto. And again, I came back to the same result as before during the evening. The focus is already at full aperture already amazingly well - and dimmed by one, two steps she puts on something again. Did they still usually moved in the open aperture. To about 250mm can use the lens almost unlimited - at the long end should, where possible, already slightly dimmed in order to achieve best results .... but that is of such a push quite a good result I think.
It should also be mentioned positively to the supplied lens hood ... actually standard but one can never know these days;)
Manually focus the lens can be quite wonderful - the lens has a relatively long for filmmakers' focus Throw "- a very welcome feature.
Another positive aspect: Tamron promises 5 years guarantee if you registered the lens online. No insignificant aspect in times of often (at least perceived) planned obsolescence of electronic devices.
The zoom ring I felt at the longer end not so homogeneous, but is perhaps also because this is the lens still new.
Too bad that no lens case / protective pouch case is ... but probably just not feasible in the price.
The vignetting, so the drop in brightness towards the edge is on full-format cameras such as the D750 already Brakable - but with a single click in Lightroom then ultimately no real topic.
All in all, remains to say: I am more than pleasantly surprised by the image quality of the lens!
For the price you get a great all-rounder for the telephoto range of due to the size should fit in just about any camera bag. The weight like the odd scare, perhaps - no problem for me but that's because not less difficult my other lenses ... FX lenses are rare lightweights (except perhaps small fixed focal length). Therefore, quite want to make a recommendation for price-conscious photographers the little compromises in image quality.
