What I did not like:
- The frankly awful price. And the current exchange rate and cushy Microsoft ($ 1 = 1 Euro).
- No abbreviated manual, just a small colorful cardboard welcome.
- The UEFI boot, ideologically and sometimes lamentable indeed mishandled by motherboard manufacturers. And all
generally no documentation of either side.
- By default, the active defragmentation for my SSD! I disabled. So, this is a little doubt everything
done automatically by the O / S, where further checks (I left prefetch and superfectch assets).
- Powershell. It's humor with respect to Linux / Unix world.
- An O / S without real security for the future. This is not Defender or other anti-virus software that will protect some virus or Trojan keyloggers housed in downloaded applications on honest but hacked sites. Defender, these are boots in two feet of water, it's good to see him like that. That said, it is still actually relevant to have an active antivirus is better than nothing.
- Some Nvidia drivers lacking stability (try the free game Path of Exile to check ...) and the lack of communication around that. Many comments on the Internet (see Geforce dot com forums). Continued ... It's the stress of my new configuration, now - the only one, besides, that's a shame. (*)
- Gadgets (like Windows 7) were removed from office. Argh.
- The bar charms. What idea ...
- Some privacy settings, SkyDrive and company default. Very little, in the end, but only one, it is always too much. Otherwise 7 GB free on Skydrive, what generosity. Skydrive far off and use an old USB key, thank you Microsoft. 100 euros for the Windows 8.1, extras, or even very large, were valued for non-corporate clients.
- The gallery of applications, to rethink. I used it once in almost a month. While I often look out of curiosity
that of Google, even having no Android device at the moment ... I thought to use it more.
- A mandatory login for applications gallery.
- The disappearance of playing DVDs and Blu-ray default (so I installed VLC).
- Skype (which is not here on DVDs, but this software is part of Microsoft now): the default version for Windows 8.1 is that tablets - objectively, this is a horror in terms of design and user experience . Fortunately, there is one desktop version / desktop, on the Skype website. The normal and friendly version what. To know.
(*) Updated December 15, 2013: I have no concern with NVidia drivers, who changed graphics card. By cons, these drivers are painful: not only are they large (1 GB for installation), but increasingly they install too many directories here and there values in the registry galore, and even icing on the cake, and that's unheard of, a user account! (UpdatusUser). Not to mention too many background processes (7 minimum, even with 3D Vision Streaming and less). It's impossible to remove by hand. I do not understand that Microsoft agrees with that.
