Joe Beck Books blasé meeting, client of a day, the false air of Natalie Portman ... For him it's love at first sight .... At first glance this might look like a trifle early like "Coup de Notting Hill "... except that Joe is a psychopath and that from that day he will develop an obsession for her which will push him to do everything (really everything) to conquer.
This novel does not give the impression of being a "thriller" in the literal sense, because reading does not give cold sweats. Because Joe is not as scary as this, it even has qualities like Beck, we come to find endearing. It is precisely this which for me is the strength of this book: Joe is not the archetypal sadistic psychopath, without feelings, cold and calculating, murderous bloodthirsty beast as we find them most often in thrillers ... No, far from it! Caroline Kepnes happens to us into the head of the man for whom every act in a logical explanation and is convinced he is in the good of everyone .... No other character in the book is attaching ... we see all through the eyes of Joe, and if we are not careful, we'd be almost happy that Joe rid us. And so that's what scares the end is that this dangerous psychopath does not scare us!
Why not 5 stars? Because I found laps in the last third of the book. Caution also fairly crude vocabulary and explicit sex scenes.
