The novel that launched John Grisham, and one of its greatest successes. Mitch McDeere, a Harvard student, bright but poor, just received his degree and was hired by a law firm in Memphis, in the southern United States. Luck seems to smile, and his work is accompanied by considerable material rewards: they bought him a BMW, it helps to repay student loans, and promised that in ten years there will be rich. The good life, in short. Or perhaps they are appearances deceiving ... I will not tell all, but the reader is entitled by reading this novel to a beautiful escalating fear and suspense is excellent, not to mention that it deems the gallery of shady characters and corrupt as each other which seek to destroy our hero!
