Processing:
Plastic. light, pleasant small, quasi perfect Always plan when time has no backpack full FBs here.
also rain / spray water was so far not a problem, as part of the fire-documentaries has gotten quite a bit of my water.
Autofocus:
not the fastest but fast enough. for sports less suitable, very good for report purposes.
by AF-S also pleasantly quiet.
VR:
works perfectly.
Optical performance:
the color reproduction is for the price really a blast! Open aperture is recommended rather less, but in the corresponding output format (not 100% of D800!) Still very good use. it will be just a little dimmed. the focus is on aschend well.
Distortion:
is naturally present, but can be corrected very well and is completely unproblematic.
Dust problems:
other Rezensionenen write here lint - could I find not so far, and my will but used heavily. Dust deposits will certainly be present (but the gibts FBs partly ...), but not to the extent that I would remember something about it. and to search a microscope I do not use :)
Price:
the 24-85mm is almost thrown at hand, and is here to about 250 - to have. the new price here on Amazon, I find, however, somewhat exaggerated - but the P / L ratio is absolutely fine!
Conclusion:
almost perfect, affordable and easy Always plan on FX, also on the D800 makes it amazingly good job! - To DX (corresponds there the focal range 16-55mm) I would use it less, there there are better candidates.
