Far fascinating but totally fantasized killers of Thomas Harris, the killer of James Ellroy is extraordinarily realistic. It does not develop, he acts, he is extremely dangerous and vaguely absurd. Nothing sadistic excesses of Hannibal Lecter, yet this killer then made much more chilling. I had heard that the book was recommended to FBI agents at one time. Perhaps is it simply a good ad, but it is in any case plausible.
