I read with great pleasure that Volume 1 Volume 1 which corresponds to the original novel. There are very amusing discoveries (Mrs Bennet compared to an "old cat" Darcy at a ball at Meryton!), Interesting new characters (the subtle Fletcher and the mysterious Lord Brougham). Exchanges between Darcy and Elizabeth are tasty. The style of Pamela Aidan (provided the translation is accurate) is not out of step with that of Jane Austen. It takes a great party that reveals little Jane Austen Darcy and historical reality in "Pride and Prejudice". Well documented, it takes us into the time and built a very likely Darcy introspective. Having the content of his correspondence with Georgiana gives a good overview of his relations with his sister. Although we know that some details need much to the miniseries of the BBC (Darcy's propensity to look out the window, the ball scene at Netherfield, Mrs. Bennet's first name), the plot of the original novel is respected, which adds to the charm of it and makes you want to read more.
