This is a special issue of Cahiers du Cinema dedicated to Serge Daney and published after his death. It consists mainly of testimony: everyone agrees that Daney was a great thinker and a wonderful man. Really? All this feels writes occasional full nose but it is also true that the exercise was dangerous from the start. This is not necessarily the fault of the authors. Both writings republished here are worth the blow chronicle of the first Daney (Rio Bravo dedicated to Howard Hawks) and his last speech (for the launch of the journal Traffic to the Jeu de Paume gallery). For a good introduction to Daney, see his river interview with Regis Debray available on DVD.
