K5II S Pentax Digital Camera SLR Lens Kit 16.3 Mpix 1.8-50 mm Black (Electronics)

Customer Review

No one in the area? No owners K5 IIs?
Bizarre as strange, because before the K3, this case represented the high end of the magnificent reflex of the K series!

Okay, so I glue myself ...
Especially since this device is still a wonder to this day unmatched even by the K3! It is not me who says, this is the site DXO labs. With an overall score of 82, the K5 IIS leads all other boxes of the K series, including K3, and proudly occupies the 25th place in the ranking of the best devices. 1st place all together Pentax, no less!
Okay, you tell me that the figures and testing, it is fine, but it is not absolute proof that the camera is pleasant to use, high performance day and night and strong like a tank.

Well ... this one, yes ...

The story begins when I wanted to replace my K30. Already the K30 is the candy. Nothing to throw this case that can still satisfy any demanding amateur for a modest price.
I tried the K50, except that it's exactly the same as K30! Oh ... I was hoping an evolution, a tad better ... No, Nada, Nyet, identical except for the body! (Less nice one!).
Okay, so I test the K3. Here we are in the high-end SLR Pentax! This is necessarily better? Yes, no worries, it's better than K30, still happy! Image quality, viewfinder display and setting options, this is a MUST. But the price is in line with benefits. With 24M pixels sensor, weight imposes a robust configuration files for post processing, especially if you work in RAW.
However, given the opportunities and the quality of manufacture of the machine is not dishonest!
Still, for me, simple expert amateur, it's expensive and a lot heavier and bulky than a K30.
Back to square one. I even tried KS 1, to tell you ... The worst for poor KS 1 is that under his look of Barbie and toy Kent hides a great device, well above the K30 in quality image ... just that! But the rest is a calamity, starting with the handle. No grip and hit unpleasant crippling ... alas ...

Why had I omitted the K5? ..... Good question.
For me it was a 2010 unit and I thought obsolete. But I forgot versions II and IIs outputs in 2012 high-end of the time, with a plethora of improvements over my K30.
Yes, after testing the full range of magnificent reflex of the K series, I selected ....... The K5 IIs.
Why?
Because it's the best compromise of the entire band, by far!
- Weight reasonable and practically as compact as my K30.
- Yet more joints tropicalisation and a metal housing.
- A dream ergonomics. It's simple, once you put it on time, you can control virtually everything without going into menus !!!
- A high performance autofocus, including in low light (provided you have good goals, too).
- An image quality to cry ... happiness. Without the low pass filter (as K3), the sharpness of the pictures is amazing !!! Provided that from time to time, you agreed to see some moire effects. This is the only weak point, we need to know and accept it ... or not.
- The icing on the cake is that it costs 250 less than the K3, the price of a good complementary optical.

Well, I stop there. I fell in love with this unit and I could go on much longer. It can even add the same grip of K7, good to know.

Pentaxiste, Always Pentaxiste. Keep the eye glued to the viewfinder BANZAÏ !!!

EDIT

I add some clarification on this splendid housing.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that even set goals such as 50-200mm WR gained in quality and sharpness significantly compared to the K30 and K50, then that's the same sensor!
The amount of settings possible, exceeds all K enclosures, including the K3! Consequently, we quickly made to lose by adding changes in parameters ....
I strongly advise not to change THAN parameter at a time, and if a configuration appears to provide more, save in one of five user memories (user) BEFORE try other settings. Then it is easier to find combinations tailored to personal choice and the conditions of shooting.

Zou ..... next? .... If it still interests you!
