Bach: Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin (CD)

Customer Review

While modern instruments developed a considerable sound power, nowadays, there are countless musicians looking to rediscover the pleasures of old sounds. Seduced by the clarity and simplicity of their expressions or impressed by biting their rhythms, they pass us in their own way, the substance of a baroque messages increasingly present. Thus, they are identified as "genuine" or "copies", the old instruments are heavily involved in many recordings of success. In terms of the latter, it is a baroque violin Pierre Jaquier 1996 (bow Eduardo Gorr, 2000) which takes all. Admittedly, one that animates is an outstanding technician. Imposing its name from a radical way to the top of the violin literature is however not an easy task. Despite the magnitude of the task - the Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin are presented to the interpreter as an accumulation of difficulties - Amandine Beyer signs its most impressive drive, and that with ease. Very successful, it's one that will stick in his image, rather like a musical halo. Stylish and sleek, listening had on me the effect of a slap in the face. Flexible in gesture as in the process (the parts are not played from left), with her emotions are accompanied by respect. All at once enlightened and radiant, his game highlights everything that makes music from Bach what it is, namely its articulation, its shape, its polyphony, counterpoint, her harmonic progression and I pass. Upset by listening, I immediately compared to versions of artists at least as prestigious. It is at this point that the reverse of the first slap hit my other cheek, because this experience has demonstrated how Amandine Beyer stands out from its competitors. It captivates our attention where others merely draw. It remains to be judging each on its own references, but personally, this record was literally flabbergasted. My report would not be complete if I did not mention the excellent uptake Markus Heiland. The timbre of the violin is very defined and very clean, without harshness or coldness. A realization totally exemplary.
