Vampire Nation, T1: Riker (Hardcover)

Customer Review

A new novel with vampires? It is for me ...

Here's my review of volume 1 of the Vampire Nation Riker Larissa Ione series:

From the first pages, I allowed myself to embark on a funny story. And for good reason: the vampires have become slaves to humans. What an original idea ^^. But the adventure does not stop this situation. The author mistreats us even more by creating a heroine who has a strong character, but we show that human nature is not really beautiful. We do not live in the land of Care Bears in short. The wicked are humans and vampires nice to caricature things.

In this book, Nicole Martin is a scientist who finds himself embedded in a vampire clan. With a difficult start, it will reach its place, but at what price? In addition, Nicole has faced in his youth, cruelty vampires, it is not really comfortable with them. Yet only one will reach to lower her defenses and stand out from others. This is a first bumpkin and he hates Nicole and her family to the point that we can not imagine. It will therefore lead his life difficult. The feelings of the one and the other will be put to the test. The memory of the wife of Riker floats above them, constantly reminding him what he has lost and why he does what he must do what he thinks .. Or do.

The universe of Larissa Ione is quite special and we are especially far from perfect world we may usually discover. She does not hesitate to hurt his characters, to endanger them, to force the character of each. The tension is palpable on every page, and when you believe that it's over, well, there's more. The pen of the author is fluid, scroll pages without anyone noticing necessarily account.

The secondary characters are just as important. Loved Myne and Riker, which I long to read the volumes that will be devoted to them. The end of Volume 1 is interesting and the epilogue makes him want to discover the rest of the saga.

In summary: a rather dark universe, very temperamental character, but very endearing, we do not live in Care Bears and humans are just as bad as vampires. In short: what to enjoy! Then one dark ^^

Enjoy!
