On Amazon UK, no less than 345 reviews 5 stars for this great novel. A small masterpiece that traces the life of the "maids", the "maids" black, in the United States at the time of JFK. These women who worked six days 7 sisters in their white employers shared their intimate life, raised the little white children, often better and with great tenderness, but still segregated. Everyone in his place, even in the toilet that "good" black was not allowed to use. A beautiful and often funny portrait of courageous women in an America where slavery is abolished if in fact it is not even in their minds. I'm surprised that this book has not been more successful on Amazon France but maybe it's due to the translation. I read it in English so I do not know what it is but just the title that means nothing, actually disappointed me. Translate "The Help" by "The Help" is really taking some liberties with the translation, in my opinion ... The translator does not even try to make the play on words contained in the title. Anyway, this is a beautiful book and I recommend it.
