Conor Oberst (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Celebrated for many years by the relevant music press as a child prodigy can Conor Oberst after many years to re-release a solo album - off his band Bright Eyes, recorded with The Mystic Valley band. And this is for several reasons a good thing.

Because so here will not only very personal songs with lyrics that are classified between tragic and cynical. But it also played the right music to - personally, bitter, but always with more than a flick towards silver lining and in between with hints of humor.

From the folky ballad "Lenders In The Temple" on the rocking "Souled Out", which he argues with a Mexican woman in funny conversation in the background, the bandwidth of this album enough. Musically you can sorting all between Americana, country and bluegrass. But in addition to exquisite songs surprised Conor Oberst his listeners again and again. In addition to the short electric guitar Polka "NYC - Gone, Gone" distraught and the Intermezzo from "Valle Místico (Ruben's Song)", which consists of only fifty seconds horn blower.

With these numbers, he has shown that he does not want to make it too easy his listeners. "Conor Oberst" is a good album with provocative swipes - and therefore even better than expected.
