I have a Medion Akoya P5368 with a hot swap slot. The hard drive was detected immediately after switching to AHCI in the BIOS as a hard drive in the BIOS.
After formatting, you could easily use it under Windows or Linux. It is fast and works so far properly. Typical good quality Western Digital.
