To balance my Surface Pro tablet with the other buyers:
The delivery status of my tablet looked like that Windows 8 Pro was already installed and the driver could show news until August-2013.
So after powered up and set the Surface Pro for the first time, I wanted it, of course, on the latest updates, including update Win 8.1 Pro -. However, the should end the first time in more than a headache. While I let Windows search for updates, it also showed me relatively quickly, an error message "updates could not be found" which of course also led me immediately to check for possible connectivity problems. None. The connection to the router and the Internet was, and Internet Explorer could access certain websites.
So it was time for me on the internet for the error code to search specifically on Surface Pro and I was also able to find. The problem solving (which I would never come despite längjährigem Windows application) was relatively simple:
You have to synchronize the system clock with time.windows.com.
Do so, click (bottom right) in the taskbar at the clock and then "Change Date and Time Settings ..." on. Now you go into the category of "Internet time" and click there on the button "Change Settings ...". In the small window that opens, you (unless already done automatically) puts a check mark in "with an Internet time server synchronize", then selects at "Server:" server "time.windows.com" and click next to it on the button " update now ".
Once the time has been synchronized, you should now back can download Windows Updates (if not Windows just once restart).
Now for the tablet.
The tablet itself acts first-class workmanship and provides a crystal-clear image, the sound output of the Surface Pro can be proud of. Of course, the battery life is a problem in the first generation of Surface Pro tablet, but should for pure home users (the anyway anywhere an electrical outlet available have) not be a problem - my Surface Pro, for example, has found its place on the PC table.
The speed of the Surface Pro (which the built-in hardware is owed) is also top-notch and should be more than sufficient for normal home users.
If that Surface Pro 2 is too expensive and provided no outlet is available nearby, at a lower battery life may (4-5 hours) to live, I can that of the Surface Pro definitely recommend.
Had the update problems have not been (which I did not have to go into debt), I would give the Surface Pro full marks. But as the Surface Pro gets by me 4 stars out of 5 and a strong buy recommendation.
