Armel Guerne (1911-1980) was perhaps the greatest passer of German literature of the twentieth century. Switzerland (as Jaccottet), poet (as Jaccottet), he always writes better than Jaccottet; but unlike Jaccottet, as he has never held positions in magazines and newspapers (NRF etc.), it is unfortunately less known. (Besides Jaccottet has always minimized by design, like other great poets than himself. Cf.Yves Bonnefoy performed for many years in a row in his columns NRF). In short, you must read this book which is simply the best introduction to German Magi, all these Rimbaud across the Rhine.
