Actually, I had the Acer Aspire ES1-311-C96C ordered with 13.3 inches HD, without CD drive and no numeric keypad, but he was well out of print.

So I get these 15.6 inch, CD-ROM, and Zifernblock keyboard. Both Win 8.1 on it, but there are also models without an operating system.
From primitive I do not want to talk, because the laptop has everything you need and is designed for office, multimedia and Internet (almost) perfectly equipped, but you could tell everywhere that this is a budget device:
Our family has 2 Toshiba Satellite, Toshiba Qosmio 1, 1 Asus N56V and 1 Akoya from Aldi. All these devices I myself have upgraded, usually to 16 GB of RAM and SSD hard drives. That's when the Acer is not possible or only partially possible and at considerable expense.
On the one hand there has been no maintenance flaps so you need to turn out more than a dozen screws, loose some Kunststofnasen, disconnect all connections, the motherboard remove to determine that there is only one memory bank and around. 7mm height for an HD or SSD. Better a good used Asus N56V get because who from birth BluRay, Intel i7, space for 16 GB and 2 hard drives, Full HD, Bang & Olufsen sound system with subwoofer-satellite, a lot of connections and maintenance cloth ... another galaxy ... All this is available in the three hundred Euro price class, it is quite clear!
Conclusion: The Acer ES1-512-P1SM is not upgradeable.
Saving starts with the power supply. Although the primary power cable OK and the secondary between the transformer and laptop is long enough, but very thin and also the connector on the unit and the transformer are minimalist. But as far as it gets. The transformer is perhaps 4 x smaller than with a Toshiba Qosmio, well, the price also.
Of course, the device is all plastic, but leaves to the touch not very cheap impression. It's all good stuff, but it is economy class, not business, let alone First.
The display should also be saved. The brightness is when the sun might just (what the battery life benefits), but has a good anti-reflective coating, the resolution is not correct but only HD 1366x768 and strictly genmmen the colors up and down slightly different, but Hey! that is not a high-end laptop for graphic designers and for the price I can only say "respect". Watching videos is fun because the screen just sharp and provides sufficient contrast ... But a pair of external speakers or headphones for 30 € are highly recommended.

When battery life reported manvon 4.5 hours. I can not confirm because my unit is permanently on power, but for mobile use, it seems very close to me.
