This volume tells the story of Caden and Maddie. Caden is a member of the Hell's Eight. But it was little cross over the five previous volumes. Maddie is a young woman with sinister past that was collected by the Hell's Eight after his escape from a brothel. As in the other volumes, the hero is good, nice, strong and imposing. The heroine, meanwhile, is a woman who suffered a lot, but turns out strong and it is of course very beautiful. At first sight, this volume is not different. The two protagonists will gradually move closer, while overcoming various tests and end up together and happy !!! However, this volume addresses another subject: the role of women in American society of the nineteenth century. A married woman must obey her husband. It decided everything and had the upper hand on his wife's property. Maddie, despite his love for Caden, crave independence. It is a vital need for it has always been under the yoke of men. I loved that side of the story, without that, it would have been only a rehash of old tomes. Finally, this volume is not just a love story. This series is very pleasant to follow. There are only two single members and therefore normally 2 tomes that I will read reliably. I recommend this book to anyone who likes this series. But also to others who do not know this series. Indeed, this volume can be read independently, as the quest for Ari, which was the main theme from the first volume, has finished in the 4th volume.
