Several years ago I took me the Canon S95 as bright compact camera. But this camera came to me over the years before as a bad marriage. And there was really only the EX2F that roughly exactly was what I would expect from such a camera. But it scrapped a camera for a few hundred euros from because it has a "nasty" messages? No. One day, the display of the S95 was broken and on the same day the EX2F was appointed. I struggled with the idea of ​​whether the decision of the top dogs in the field of digital photography go away (Canon, Panasonic, Nikon) was correct. Also lay me still the first system camera from Samsung in the stomach. I held her at Photokina in my hands and realized that she was working only from the simplest and easiest plastic. But the decision was absolutely correct that I had ordered the EX2F.

The camera as such:
Vorneweg. Contrary to any standard I have chosen for the white version of the camera. The EX2F is the size quite nice. They can very well hold a one-stop and even put in a jacket pocket. In weight, the camera is striking hard. This is due to the magnesium body, the camera proper value. When you first look at the camera but you startled briefly because the camera is not completely white. The lens ring is made of silver metal (which looks even more high-quality as the camera), and the lens is kept completely black. In terms of buttons, the camera actually know an interesting peculiarity. The EX2F know besides the normal dial for Fotografierprogramme on another wheel for continuous shooting and self timer. What I found completely illogical on the S95 is here to light years easier and been handled better. A button takes the user into the entire menu structure, which is more than simple and quick to use. All functions are logically on one side. The next topic - the screen. At first glance you might think. Ohh, the joint is delicate. But it is not. When it raushat in which direction you have to rotate the screen lose any shyness to rotate the display. I as (ungläubischer) Apple users (I can only find the IOS better than as Android) always think - The AMEOLED display verschlägt me language - Woow how then has the display of Galaxy S4 or S5 be? After all, this is only a display of a "simple" digital camera? Something of a sharpness and Detailtum is already the madness. In the area one can also say that Detailtum photographed the EX2F under normal lighting conditions in great detail. A little pity, I find that the lens cover with a thin metal sheet was covered. Visually see the great but in practice know this plate very short time several more and less deep scratches on.

The lens and the chip:
The heart of the camera. What you should say that. Aperture 1.4 to 2.7. In this maximum aperture most cameras capture not even need to be on panel. Many cameras have problems to photograph certain lighting conditions. Such as the golden hour, when the sun is all nice evening immersed in yellow and holding gold. The Samsung gets through the light intensity there, that also each Minimum light is wonderfully recorded on the chip. In the field of selection of image programs there as always a typical camera-same old thing in the camera. The camera knows next to an automatic programming still on an automatic timer, a shutter priority, a complete manual control even an intelligent image recognition. If one wants to think not much is the Intelligent Auto ideal but I prefer knipse in Automaitschen programming. The macro mode also works starting at a distance of less than 5 cm being possible to disrupt an insect, for example at its sunbathe properly without any problem. Otherwise, there is then also some programs that serve for that one can panoramas or similar photographs. What is a mystery to me, is the 3D mode. Wifi:

With this I can but only transmit images and control the camera remotely. When I compare the two apps I must however say that the Nikon app compared here is a little more pleasant to use. The Samsung App is not as mature and a little loveless programmed. But it works just as well but in spite of everything.

The operating system:
Less is more. When you can feel the Samsung an engineer here was the program who thought a little playful. While all my other cameras menus were almost clinically programmed everything is kept less relaxed here. The date setting looks like as if you have a calendar in front of him, or if you select the white balance can be seen to match the respective area of ​​what is the meaning, for example, tungsten. But there is also something negative:
The Samsung has a quirk that I had personally never experienced with any camera before. Since I have a few cameras and all also regularly use it may well that I use once a SD card only in one direction and then in the other camera on. Here there have been and never had problems. I put but already used card then in the Samsung into smiles at me immediately an error message stating that the card must be formatted. Apparently the Samsung expects always a pure card for themselves. So in short. If the camera is used - because you have a separate card for reservations. It is also home what I so often criticize other manufacturers in other cameras. Why not pack an external charger in the package into it? A USB charger is not fulfilling and I personally find it a shame that you now always have to buy a charger separately. But important! This criticism does not concern itself only the Samsung camera. Another flaw is the direct access to the wireless reception by the four-way button for me. How often do you come up to him by mistake and then we must wait a few seconds before you can cancel the operation. But again - That's wail at the highest level.

My Conclusion:
What Samsung has soldered the EX2F together looking for me in the field of compact light strong compact cameras has no equal. In retrospect, I regret to say that I sold to the purchase of the S95. The two cameras have appeared almost simultaneously is for me not really tangible. The S95 makes in the dark inferior images, has a gray-fated menu navigation. But the Samsung is perfect for me. It is made of high-quality haptics, do actually just perfect pictures. When I think now what is negative to the camera occurs to me only the (really) dumb incompatibility of memory cards. The no charger is enclosed, S *** happens. The app is not great, S *** happens. These are for me no factors that may affect a decision flow negative.
