Led Zeppelin IV (Audio CD)

Customer Review

1971 one year after the highly acoustically oriented third album, Led Zeppelin inserted after another milestone in the history of the band, said of the guitarist Jimmy Page without saying that this will be the best ever album. The untitled album from fans in different names - as "Runes", "Four Symbols" and "Zoso" due to the symbols on Ettikett, or simply "Led Zeppelin IV" - is called, was originally intended to appear as a double album, before but decided due to some time problems for a 1-LP release. The four are not finished with all the songs, but the quality does not hurt at all, quite the contrary. Because the material that has made it to publication is exalted through and through and rocks, from the first until the last minute.
"Led Zeppelin IV" begins with the Firecracker 'Black Dog', the unique guitar playing live after warming up the guitar mainly by Bonhams powerful drums and Pages. 'Rock and Roll' is what the title promises: namely Rock and Roll - well, at least a very powerful tribute to rock and roll, in which it can play both dancing and air guitar.
'Battle of Evermore' is a beautiful acoustic piece, the sprawling high vocals sound rather mystical by using several guitars and Plants and brings a pleasant fantasy flair with it before with 'Stairway to Heaven' the first page of the album with the song ends, the group has the branded downright. No question, 'Stairway' is by far one of the best songs of the troops, which it really creates to concentrate the emotions of listeners for 6 minutes through to finally let out the furious finale altogether. Here also lies the advantage already in the CD release ... after you are already emotionally and physically exhausted from the first page, you need not turn over the board, but may be relaxed rebuild anew ...
The second, often underestimated page, starts with 'Misty Mountain Hop', which appear to Lord of the Rings is to have references and pretty funky sounds, what it has mainly thanks Pages guitar playing. 'Four Sticks' is something very experimental, ostensibly the knocking sound of the drums (and the four drumsticks ... oh!) And the monotonous guitar sound. Most appealing is the alternation between acoustic and electric guitar. 'Going to California' - like 'Battle of Evermore' - again an acoustic piece that stimulates to dream and indicate the somewhat stronger end to, are using 'When the Levee Breaks' an equally powerful and stomping Endgang comes as at the beginning.
All in all probably the best album of Led Zeppelin, which has no weaknesses and is both a milestone in the band as well as in rock history. In addition to 'Machine Head' by Deep Purple and 'Aqualung' by Jethro Tull indispensable in any well-stocked record collection ...
