The Seven Sisters: Volume 1, Maia (Paperback)

Customer Review

On Tuesday, I will talk about the last jewel of Charleston editions. Publishing house that I adore as you know for the beauty of his novels that make me always travel but also the quality of their works be it aesthetically (beautiful covers, a bit thick paper, not a shell) or level of originality (always fates of strong women who leave lordinaire and that alienates us classic romances).

And this first volume of this series of Lucinda Riley néchappe not all this: we travel to Lake Geneva Completion Brazil with Corcovado and the Christ, Copacabana or the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. Coverage is once again sublime (note that the editing house had left his readers to choose between two covers and this is my favorite who won :)) (again, after reading it really makes sense) and history shows us the fate of two strong women with a truly original plot that makes me ask myself still many questions (but jy back at the end).

On the death of Pa Salt, Maia and her sisters discover that their adoptive father left them clues to discover their origins, where it all began. This is how the no Maia will lead it to Rio de Janeiro in search of the history of his life. She will meet an author whose novels she translated into French historian by his trade and that will help him in his research to reconstruct the history of his family.

And it is then that the points of view will salterner between Maia nowadays and his great-grandmother Izabela in the late 20s Izabela will be married very young by her family to a man who does not like what falls in love despite herself dun dun at French stay in Paris. Paris discovered that lon dailleurs in a new light through the eyes of this rich and young Brazilian. A story that also allows us to revisit the history of the creation of the world-famous Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro by French architect Paul Landowski. Lucinda Riley will then mix reality and fiction to take us totally.

Jai liked the emotions that emerge from these pages sometimes sweet, but also a little bitter, festive and melancholy. A bit like the relationship between the six sisters. They love each other, they are attached to each other but as in any family, one can not help but feel at times some animosities, preferences, links more or less strong. Jai dailleurs not wait to find them each for their history. And above all, anxious to know who will be the seventh sister.

You need to know, this is Lucinda Riley is a stately crazy idea to create the series. She sest inspired myths surrounding the seven sisters of the Pleiades and mainly in Greek mythology. Each sister (and other characters) is inspired dune seven sisters: Maia, Alcyone, Asterope, Celeno, Taygetus, Electra and Merope, the latest discovery Merope star being here sister that we have not yet met, the star invisible to the eye naked. Their personalities are so closely linked. Lucinda Riley has a whole section of its website devoted to the myth of the seven sisters and to its place in the series, this is a real treat to read. (This is available in English, but also, surprisingly, in French!)

Each book in the series will be dedicated to one of the sisters that will take us to visit a new country and we will always result in a little further I believe in the myth. Jai dailleurs really looking forward to visiting other countries for my trip to Brazil and Rio de Janeiro was a joy. The time of about page, I was breathing the sand, sun, mojitos and dance. I was there.

But for once, I have not put the maximum score, for two reasons. I found the story of Maia a little too down compared to that of his great-grandmother. Jai jai loved history dIzabela but preferred that of Maia and therefore preferred jaurais what is more developed. Another reason this is the end! Difficult to more open, this is even too open. I know it's a series, so it is normal that it there are many unanswered questions but here it is a little too big for my taste. Jaurais at least liked to have all the answers about the history of Maia (and I'm not even going to mention the mega surprise late!). One thing is for sure, i can not wait to read more, I hope what will soon too!

Pléiadment Yours,
Melwasul
