Cat and Mouse (Audio CD)

Customer Review

If I had to name my favorite album of Janis Joplin, so the choice to "Cat & Mouse" in 1994 would fall. Here dared situation the decisive step and sat down the music of his earlier works from, here he creates an album that easily with the ten years earlier appeared classics can keep up "sweat".
The individual class of "Cat & Mouse" lies in the combination of intelligent lyrics and musical diversity, the latter stands out in particular. Lightness paired with melancholy, make serious songs to soulful ballads.
The first title, "banking secrecy" speaks openly the profit and greed of the banking system and is dedicated to former company reviews such as "Monopoli".
"Because I love her" offers fast-paced guitar riffs and is an uncomplicated, moody love song - all in the typical style of location.
A real highlight and perhaps the best song on the album is the six minute reflects "the singer" in which Janis Joplin critical of his own profession.
The title track buttons to the new, powerful style and is on the whole a powerful symbol of German rock music.
The first ballad of the album, "Silence" strikes quieter tones. A relaxed location philosophizes about the power of love and makes us think.
In the same vein strikes "keep out", an honest, touching ballad about a love in the changing fortunes of time. A brief recapitulation with orchestra can be found at the end of the album.
The song "Frankfurt" could be written in the booklet also about every other major city, according to a comment Lages. Critical, disillusioned comment to the decline of the social culture of big cities.
"Because you are different" is a German-Italian ballad duet with Irene Grandi. Beautiful, catchy ballad and single release.
Typical for the 80-position is then "duu Are you?". Humorous song about a class reunion and the realization that people change.
An ironic sideswipe also get the officials to the song dedicated to them.
Another highlight is the goosebumps ballad "I'll leave you never go": only location with piano and orchestra incomparable atmosphere and tremendously powerful..
The actual deadline is then "C'est la vie", an ironic look at the human condition and the knowledge: "Nothing ventured, can only lose you."
In the booklet, all lyrics plus comments from Klaus Lage contained. Rather, you have to say no to this album: One of the best - if not the best - album of Janis Joplin. Vulnerabilities there are only very rarely, it highlights the piece. High level, both musically and lyrically. With this album Klaus Lage has set an example. And one of the best German rock albums far away from commercialism and mass.
