What he has doriginal First of all there: the mixture of Arab-Muslim culture in the contiguous kinds Aikido martial arts. This is rather well done and quite exciting. This duality between nightmarish demons night and all daytime society frozen by this diktat. This dark-Man rune, surly, self-destructive, consumed by hatred and self-loathing.
This is wrong: the characters in general. All the main characters are built on the same pattern. This is the same as Superman, Spiderman, Harry Potter and jen pass. The vast majority of Fantasy literature uses and abuses of this pattern. But most writers do on a character. Not on all daffiche heads! This is the pattern of the child chosen by fate to daccomplir a great destiny.
The child should be born of a poor medium (preferably an orphan) or if this is not the case, it must be repudiated, bastard etc. In all cases, it must be cut off from his family. In the cycle of demons, this is the case Arlen, of Rojen, Leesha (she left her humiliated family) Jardir, Inevera.
Lenfant must show non-standard capabilities of foreshadowing of his "special" side of his destiny apart. Arlen teenager revolutionizes protective profession by his mastery of the runes; Jardir by his mastery of combat; Leesha, this is plants; Rojen violin; Inevera by his mastery of the arcane own Damating.
The child will be exposed to the jealousy and distrust. I will not detail, if you read the book you know by what is everybody.
By discipline, unwavering will or a big beating, they earn the respect of their peers, their enemies become either steadfast allies or enemies sharing a certain form of respect.
Finally, an event occurs which precipitates things and brings our hero finally confront his destiny.
Jai summary at the end. There are other common places, but hey, basically, that's the basis on which the author sappuie to develop his characters.
They all pass through these stages. As for me, this is a first: I never read an author who abused to the point of this narrative scheme. Clearly this is a pattern that works is easy sidentifie this kind of character, because everyone would have admired (loved), everybody wants to be different and fulfill a destiny that leaves an imprint. But abusing the baby is embedded with the bath water. Why is it special, when everyone ballast? All the characters in this book are exceptional, to the point of not Letre at all. The overdose of this is Loverdose.
The author gets lost in digressions of all kinds. It is lost in the long and laborious flashbacks that napportent nothing to the story, nothing to the action in progress. I do not know what the author of fantastic (I think this is King in "Scripture") wrote that every dialogue, every scene has to move the action in progress towards its denouement. In this third book, that's all The reverse: nothing advances the action. All pulls back. This is a case Decole.
Arlen personality changes completely (dark and lonely dautodestructeur, it becomes a sort of zen healer PR expert). The damating -and girls Jardir, followers of absolute secrecy on their traditional rituals and practices become almost exbitionnistes during a nostalgic wedding party. Leesha, beautiful and stuck, dark in almost debauchery (author letting himself go dailleurs phrasing porn for the occasion).
In short, upheavals character, personality so brutal and unexpected that they are never credible. Even then prepared long they would have been hard to swallow a few dozen pages This is all the more unfortunate that the author has talent as many other less than more numerous, its fluid style is nice and easy to read. But all desperately rigor, construction
