A strange novel, without complacency for his characters, original theme compared to usual treatments

Yes, because this is still yet another story of werewolves and vampires but this one stands out from the others by its hardness, a simple and fluid writing and angle chosen quite original.

I hesitated between 3 and 4 stars and I finally put 4 for the quality of writing. It's always difficult to comment on a book in a register that does not especially like even if I know the vampire novels since I spent two years of study on this. I almost put 3 because there is a passage in a city at the beginning of the Roman era that I found worthy of a television series for teenagers.

To set the story, and this choice of the author is quite original, there are two enemy brothers, Cain and Abel but not Uur and vain. It is the fun of néolitihique and these are the top two in each race. Basically, I will not reveal the plot. Follows a chase with a big time lapse of 1500 years.

This is a young adult novel, I believe that we will find the pace of a TV series for people of the same age: a big driver for properly hang from a more central part winded and finally an ending that gives want to know what happened. Thus the characters are sometimes well thought out, and then suddenly they change their minds three times in three pages, somewhat like one changes shirts.

But what a pleasure to see that the author did not take the charm of the party for his characters. They are wildly unsympathetic. And for them no complacency. It's the least we can say. Point ridiculous vampire in twilight here, no character who shines in the sun, it badly scorched. No werewolf super sexy but true gentle as a lamb at home. This novel is hard, his characters obsessed with their objectives, without any justification.

Writing finally is accurate, fluid, kidding. Here for once it was worth four stars. The words are well chosen and pictures, rare, not accidental. I'm not bothered me. This book reads very quickly. The selected angle to the author opens the prospect of a result throughout history, praying that she strives to create characters still a minimum attaching an anchor to operate thereafter.
