If that would be so easy The disillusionment came quickly.
Actually, you should only download the free app from the AppStore, then power the unit with power, thanks to which supplied power supply is not a problem. But then comes the fine-tuning: The iPhone is disconnected from the on-site Wi-Fi and connected to the Belkin wemo. So there should be at least, if the app would not ever crashed and I had some time to get tired, to address the issue. Frustrated, I packed everything back.
Now, after a few weeks, I ventured a restart. The visiting child announced and I had finally promised loud that a baby monitor in the house was and it therefore had not allowed.
So again from the beginning!
Meanwhile, the app had been updated and also the device itself has been granted a firmware update that I could play via App and WLAN. So here is doing something else! Suddenly, the device worked perfectly and relatively quickly to iPhone and Belkin wemo had found. Now I was able to test the app in full. Nett I think the idea that you can personalize the app by photo and name of the child. Outrageous, I find, however, that you can upgrade the functions thanks to in-app purchase. 45 annual fee every damn thing is evaluated and you afterwards a nice statistics about when the child was to be heard. A nice gimmick that should be but in my opinion already included in the price.
Overall, the Belkin wemo baby monitor is a very solid device (when functioning) is quick to set up and then does what it should. However, WLAN is mandatory, what's not available everywhere. The finish is clean and very well, the device looks really very high. The simple color I like very much. Only the expensive in-app purchases are included in the price completely exaggerated and almost rude. That the Belkin wemo Baby Monitor is only for iPhone owners and there are no additional parent unit, the circle of buyers already restricts. Especially considering how weak the battery of the iPhone. After all, the app requires orderly flow. Thus, the mobility is limited again: Does the iPhone will be charged ständigt, not one moves further away
Conclusion:
A stylish gimmick and perfectly adequate for our visit children. In daily use, however, I find it very inconvenient. Because I would rather rely on a regular baby monitor that just offers a lot, but in setup and operation simple and convenient. Run that all data on a Belkin Server, is totally unnecessary in my eyes, as well as the expensive in-app purchases.
