since I regularly make the most of the Amazon reviews, I want to make my contribution ;-)
Since my Garmin Forerunner 110, unfortunately the bracelet is broken and this is no longer curiously replaced, I was looking for a new sports watch. Important for me:
- GPS
- Pulse Rate
- Parallel display of speed and heart rate
- Lightweight
- Battery life min. 5h in GPS mode
- Design for everyday use
- Exchangeable Wristlet
- Suitable for cycling & Running
- Price
In the short list (especially due to the everyday use designs) then came only the Nike + SportWatch TomTom and multisport. The Nike + I briefly tested, but because it is only suitable for running, there was only the TomTom.
Now to my review:
GPS:
The GPS signal is found extremely fast. It usually pass no more than 15 seconds until the clock is operational. The GPS has when running through the woods now and then his problems, what one observes wrong Pace values. That's not so bad, because the recorded track and Average Pace vote in the evaluation. The location is very accurate in my opinion.
Display pulse rate:
The clock is in the standard version with no heart rate belt. I think that expresses pity, but was no different for the Nike +. The good thing about the TomTom, however, is that it works with some bluetooth belts together. I opted for the Polar H7 harness (45). The pairing was simple connection problems there never. The pulse rate is displayed with absolute reliability. My Garmin had repeatedly skips during the TomTom history!
Operation / display:
With the clock three data values can simultaneously view, a large value in the center, above the left and right small two other values. These can be completely freely defined. Otherwise, the operation of the clock and the intuitive approach of control over the directional pad below the display is very well arranged. The functions of the clock will be expanded continuously over firmware updates. I find nice as the feature that you can drive a race / walk against himself. Constantly the protrusion (or residue) of the selected drive / ride is displayed in meters.
Weight / comfort:
The clock has approximately 50 grams pleasing light. The wearing comfort of the removable strap is ok.
Battery life:
The duration is indicated by 10h. After my first week with the TomTom is more realistic 6-8h. But that is absolutely ok in my opinion.
Style:
The design is simple. Since the clock is neither large nor thick, it does not fall to continue. The time is displayed in large digits. In my view, ideal for everyday use!
Exchangeable Wristlet:
The really gratifying thing to the TomTom: The Heart of the clock (display and control pad) can be easily detached from the bracelet. A change is therefore absolutely no problem. The bracelets cost around 20, which is also acceptable. Other reviewers wrote that the clock bracelet keeps poorly. In my TomTom seems to be no problem. Perhaps here was reworked TomTom.
Cycling
The TomTom is geeignt also for cycling. For this you take the computer from the sport bracelet and puts it in the mitgeliferte bike mount that can be attached to the handlebars. Of course, you can operate the bracelet the clock also.
Connection PC / Mac
To connect the clock with the computer provides the TomTom Connect program. The syncing of data and updating the firmware worked without problems. The activities have a look at TomTom's MySport. For me, the analysis you require. The following distance, duration, calories, cadence, altitude and average heart rate. Further, there is a map of activity, including in three plots the speed of the pulse and the height increase of the activity time. If you move the mouse over the plots, are synchronously displayed in the other plots the corresponding values and the map shows the associated position.
Summary:
+ Fast GPS
+ Good design
+ Exchangeable Wristlet
+ Good control
+ Easy
- Included no chest strap
