Installation
*********
Installation on Windows 7 was expected to easily, by updating the virus signatures and the scanner itself, the program was doing harmless and largely imperceptibly his service. It was also Microsoft Security Essentials, which was located on the computer and with the Kaspersky would certainly not tolerate, (on demand) with the same uninstalled. False positives I've had none. But you have to download the vault separately and install, it is not on the CD. Was not shown me how I will provide an Android device with your antivirus. Neither the manual nor in the FAQ Kaspersky Internet was to find something. Presumably this is to be found after the establishment of a MyKaspersky accounts, however, the aid to be an indictment.
In Windows XP, the installation went as easily as under Windows 7, however, after installation, no reboot required. Interestingly, here suddenly appeared on the possibility to install the scanner on mobile devices in the form of QR codes for photographing. Why not also under Win 7?
Should mention one more, which on the first unit will start the one-year useful life period with the installation of the scanner. If you install additional devices later, only the remaining time can be used. All equipment should therefore be provided for approximately the same time with the scanner.
Anti-Spam and Anti-Banner is actually turned off by default (as it is in many browsers and mail programs already). Who needs this, it should switch among settings immediately after installation. There are also problems still with IMAP email accounts. The scanner will block the reception of e-mails if you do not shut down the review of the IMAP ports in the settings.
Special features of the Total Security Multi Device
*****************************************
The Kaspersky Virus Scanner is on several computers of the family in action. Thus obtained one of the best scanner on the market. I will therefore deal only with the special functions of Total Security multidevice here, these are mainly the password manager, the management of mobile devices and a vault, and more recently the monitoring of access to any existing webcam.
- Data Safe
***********
The Data Vault data may be stored in a special encrypted file. These data are then comes close only on the master password created when ordering. For sensitive data on a laptop not a bad idea. Does the laptop lost, the data against intruders are protected. On a desktop computer, which can only hope in the event of a disk crash, that also comes back to its data when reinstalling. A wholly-owned security is safe anyway not, because when you open the vault and editing or even viewing the data they are still written to the computer memory unencrypted again and possibly also appear in the cache or in temporary files. So the safe only offers protection in case of loss of a computer.
- Password Manager
***************
The password manager is to allow you to create and encrypt their secure passwords and automatic entries into programs and Web sites. Also, the password manager is protected by a master password (which is prudent be different from that of the vault). Since the password manager including mobile, to provide the passwords on all devices, the passwords (encrypted) in MyKaspersky account stored that has to be set up in advance. Unfortunately, the establishment of this account is a requirement to use the manager at all, a purely local use is not provided. Because I want to basically do not see my passwords stored in Internet (who may already check whether there is not a "service password" for all accounts?), I have omitted the function.
- Since I have not set up a MyKaspersky Accout (and set wanted) remained for me the function of the installation on mobile devices hidden.
Conclusion
****
A still great virus scanner (5 out of 5 stars) will be sold more expensive with the additional functions of Total Security. Who can use these gimmicks and the password storage in the cloud familiar with it can certainly do something, everyone else, I can only recommend staying in the cheaper versions.
