A wonderful wedding in the English countryside novel of the nineteenth century. From the little country aristocracy after the father's death, the widow and her three girls are decommissioned for lack of a male heir but will create a new life and a new society where dating will put them to the test. The eldest Elinor is remarkable for its restraint, its reasonableness while Marianne bestows a meeting may be doubtful. Through his love, a feminine painting contained in an ultra-codified education and a destiny determined by marriage. Within these constraints, temperaments are unleashed in the privacy of the family, hope and despair awaiting the famous proposal. Consolation: infinite solidarity among women.
Easy to read in English with a delightfully antiquated vocabulary
