A friend suggested this wonderful trilogy - and I could not thank her enough! Roddy Doyle captures the spirit of his subjects - Their warmth, Their conflicts, Their creative uses of the f-word - you feel like you're sharing a pint with the gang in a dark village pub. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Irish wit, enjoys real-life characters and has a weakness for Guinness and a bag o 'chips with salt and vinegar. Roddy Doyle is one of the funniest, most down-to-earth fiction writers today.
