When probing the upscale segment, I am constantly encountered only Canon and Nikon, whether in stores, in various photography magazines or on the Internet. Nothing against Canon and Nikon, but their market power is very large, and I was always sympathetic, as the smaller providers compete for their market share and break with smart ideas from the mainstream. Above all, the Pentax K-7 with its built-in Shake Reduction and the plethora of settings and editing options already on the camera said to me. For this, the relatively small, this very robust and weatherproof magnesium alloy chassis.
In January, I put it to me and I am very pleased with the decision, the K-7 is phenomenal in his hand and is high-quality in all respects. I am with the Taste of the countless modes still not what me but especially appeals about all the settings out: In the K-7 and the normal automatic mode and the exposure programs are very reliable, I produce even in difficult situations only slightly Committee (and this is, I believe, not believe that my claims are so low).
Speaking of claims: main criticism of the K-7 is the image noise at higher sensitivities from ISO 400. This is true, however disturbing, in which I do not work only in enlargements, and can be significantly improved in many cases, such as the electronic noise reduction, by saving in RAW format or fast lenses.
This, however, you need the appropriate optics. And there's a crowd Pentax as it seems, but a bit more expensive than others, because the coveted pieces - especially the Limiteds - hardly appear as a bargain on the Internet. I shoot mostly with a Pentax DA 17-70 / F4, which makes sharp resolution and covers most of my needs. Tele I hardly need more important for my purposes but is a bright all-around lens that can also be used as a portrait lens. Ideal would be the Pentax FA 43 / 1.9 Limited, described universally excellent, but unfortunately comes at a price.
Conclusion:
The K-7 is a great in every way and absolutely suitable for everyday use camera. Although I lack the direct comparison with other brands, but the Pentax top model can be incredibly much and is ideal for users who do not constantly explore these many possibilities, but simply want to make very good pictures anyway. But to get to actually very good pictures, you have to for the lenses - especially if they are coming from Pentax - again properly make money easy.
