Now I had already written off the band Canned technically, there comes with "veto" the seventh studio album of smart Saalfelder and I am amazed not bad. Not that you would suddenly do something completely different, but like having my prayers answered, variety is very important just over the first three songs.
The opening "Godiva" would redound every melodic death metal band to honor, and I am referring to the classic. "Land Of The Upright Ones" sounds, thanks to the men and Weichert Dietz violently by Arch Enemy, to only end in a HSB-typical upper Mitgröler. "The storms call you" is also a clear hit with, surprise, German chorus. "You Will Be Godless" impresses with unusual brutality from the first note, "Hunters Will Be Hunted" is the anti-hunting anthem and then, yes, covers the men also Blind Guardian. Yeah, read that right, "Valhalla" is rotated by the Saalfelder mincer and even pretty good, even upper-Guardian Hansi Kürsch yodeling with.
On album length is not one Abkacker has crept, each song comes up with at least one hot ass riff on, drummer Matthias Voigt bludgeons as varied as ever and singer Marcus Bischoff screams at the usual high level of the vocal cords to scrap. Since the whole Gore-Kasper could ne thick slice of cut off, that's brutal vocals!
The texts are of course as usual beyond plates Stammtisch slogans or superficial palaver. Just at this point, HSB've been lifted from the crowd.
"Veto" is from front to back really horny S ***** and in my opinion the first time really well produced powerful and asocial. Extreme Metal that has to be heard in 2013!
