since a couple of days I am the proud owner of an Acer 1825 PT (not PTZ!). Currently Amazon does not offer the PT. But imagine that this will change soon. Why did I not set my review in 1820 when PT Acer? ... Good question ... I had originally also. Had I but then it decided to review under the 1825 PTZ, since both have a capacitive screen. (I know there can be different opinions, which would have made it otherwise, I ask to see over it. Thank you!
As each the techn. May flee data from the network itself, I will dispense with listing and confine myself to the differences betw. The 1820 and the 1825 handling and my pers. Experiences during the last few days because I have very little found this on the net. What is the basis of my review? Tests in the department stores, Internet searches, and the subsequent purchase of a 1825 PT and why ....
So, on to the review (What word :))
What distinguishes the 1825er series of the 1820s? (Applies to both PTs and PTZs)
-------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------
The 1820s are up on the screen operation in much the same features. The 1820 series has a "resistive" screen. The 1825er series has a "capacitive" screen. Like everything in the world has all his Vor.- and disadvantages. (The seller wanted me the capacitive screens always everything, sell new, so better. Tip: Let you not bear aufschwatzen important is what you expect.!
The resistive screen (benefits)
-------------------------------
- Responds to Pressure
- It can be operated with the fingers and the stylus
- You sometimes have the feeling that the screen does not respond. But this is wrong, because then, the
Print simply not enough.
- The image is properly (Sharp, crisp and bright)
- Handwriting recognition can be optimally utilized. You can really good and relatively
Write small. (As with a PDA simply)
The resistive screen (disadvantages)
--------------------------------
- The surface feels "coated" on.
This becomes spec. noticeable in the finger operation, because they do not so easily on the screen
seem to glide. (Only my impression)
- By turning the screen and lets him stand at about 45 degrees. Sufficient identification of the
Screen is not sufficient to the required pressure spec. to in the corners, can withstand.
- The detection rate at the edges and the corners is not optimal in my opinion pers.
CONCLUSION "resistive" screen:
---------------------------------------
- Ideal for pen operation.
° Handwritten notes
° calendar entries
- Finger operation - important
° inaccurate in the corners
° Pull the scroll bar is not always recognized throughout
The "capacitive" screen (benefits)
------------------------------------------------
- Responds to the capacitive voltage difference betw one's own body and the screen..
(The best example of the iPhone)
- The screen surface is made of glass. The fingers glide across the screen just as (I like it very well)
- The resistance of the rotated screen at 45 degrees is easily sufficient. The shield thus not klapt
times inadvertently touch on the keyboard (light, popper upwards and rolls SITE
up. (Here comes iPhone feeling on)
- No matter where you touch the screen. The entries are very well recognized in the corners
The "capacitive" screen (disadvantages)
-------------------------------------------------- -
- NO pen operation possible!
- Handwritten notes (well, if you can use the entire screen for a word ....)
- Calendar entries (Same as above)
CONCLUSION "capacitive" screen:
-------------------------------------------
- Ideal for finger operation!
° All types of web applications
° Google Earth is really fun
° Write Using the onscreen keyboard is really fun!
(Tip: Set the response times somewhat aggressive)
- Pen operation
° As I said does not work!
TOTAL - Conclusion of Screens
--------------------------------------------
As mentioned. Let you not tell because of the 1820 series is the "old" model is replaced by the "new" 1825. However, it is true if a given that the 1820 series was previously available on the market.
==> So, as you can see both have their advantages and disadvantages Vor.-. You should know simple.
Other differences betw. The 1820 and 1825er series
-------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------
I am only a "significant" difference known. And relating to the wireless card.
- The 1820 series radios only in the 2.4GHz range.
- The 1825er series can also send the 5 GHz range.
In my view, a non-negligible difference. So if someone wants to send in the 5 GHz range, it MUST take a sub-notebook the 1825er series and live in doubt with the capacitive screen. (Perhaps he would be, too)
Well, we come to my overall experience:
-------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------
The battery time:
-----------------------------
- Wow, there are really good eight hours Tedenz Richtunng 9 hours but .... only in the energy-saving mode!
(Otherwise just over 6 hours.)
(Default setting: CPU performance 50%).
- Mind you in my "big" CPU (SU7300) in it. How does this relate to the SU4300er?
° MS Word 100 pages document, PowerPoint open
° Internet Explorer open
° parallel Internet radio playing in the background
° and still no shocks to recognize ...
- Sufficient performance in energy-saving mode?
° I can only say that in any case! Movies run Ruckelfrei via USB / HDD.
° web pages scroll ruckelfei (Like the iPhone)
° internet movie files (eg library) are also run smoothly (WLAN in power saving mode)
° HDMI televisions (feature film) - perfect, no shocks in the highest resolution (full HD!), Super
Image. Never thought that I have a DVB-T card miss in a netbook / SUB-Netbook
so I can use it as a video recorder. (Well, no one has .... could you want ....)
- WLAN - Performance
Very good! Two floors (concrete floors) - No Problem
° Very stable
The keyboard:
-----------------------
- I think they're very good!
Handling:
------------------------
- The 1.7 kilo should not be underestimated.
- Just looking to take advantage of the Acer as a book reader in bed on her back, one should forget.
Nevertheless, while sitting at the knees bent just perfect!
- Unfortunately, the screen is "Fully mirrored" (joke). No, he is not anti-reflective. Outside, the sun = no equal
Image.
I can throw away because every time when I looked stupid from a seller if I ask for a non-reflective netbook. And each time anew want to know me do that but the reflective screen has a much better picture, and at all ...... was the earlier times .... Hello dear seller of the major markets, but I know that their argue so must. But then someone is not as "old news" because if he times looking for something which at that time was simply better! .... Grins :)
If I had one wish, I would like to have the choice: reflective or non-reflective
How do I use my Acer?
-----------------------------------------
- It runs exclusively in the "power saving mode"
- Almost entirely across the screen
- Actually, I use only the 1825er
- The 11.6 "screen is a very good compromise betw a netbook and a Notbook..
(I had the 1825er also never bought if he had only had a 10.1 "inch screen)
Are there side effects?
---------------------------------------------
Yes, definitely. Since then I have the Acer I have to clean up "normalo Notebook" often fingerprints the picture screen of my. Because more and more I find myself, as I try to press a button on the screen, or scroll a Text.- or website ..... This is probably clearly proved that I belong to the genus Custom animal; -)
If last yet to answer the question why I have decided for the 1825er series and not for the 1820s:
- For me, the operation via the screen was crucial. Important to me was that the "Touchsceen"
can be operated safely.
- You can read the display also in a favorable position for me, without any problems, operate without the
Screen with the other hand always having to rely.
- Yes it's true. I also had in mind that I do not use the full functionality of the touch screen
could, since no pen input is possible. So Thus, the function of handwriting recognition
is actually useful unusable. Over time, however, I realized that I
the pen input is no longer needed. Because the "twisted screen mode" is in the
Touching each entry field each time displayed on-screen keyboard. Perfect! More
I do not need that. Notes and calendar entries go almost as fast as the original
Keyboard .... Ok, ok .... Finger search operation. 10-finger system is not of course .....
I hope the review (oh ... you), my experiences have helped you ewtas.

Oh Yes. Should you find typographical errors or other errors you can keep. ... Because nothing is as serious as the dead!
