The Eingiffe the camera's internal correction (A57) fall more glaring than in the 16-80 (especially distortion correction at wide angle). This suggests more modest "genuine" optical qualities. Let's wait for the lab results ...
Negative and observed:
At the upper end focal length, approximately from 110 mm, the lens can not be reliably sharp. Despite brighter and motives of AF trembles partially seconds back and forth until it finds focus. This already have other reviewers and commentators (eg. B. "Abeille", "Mr. Test") reported at this point. Unfortunately, it was true for both tested by me copies, which I had to therefore return with a covering note to Amazon. So one can not recommend this lens. I will inform Sony and track the reports on this subject further. Because now at least 4 lenses are concerned, one can no longer speak of an individual case.
On my 55-200, the problem at the same camera on not.
Preliminary Conclusions:
Without the AF problems it would be a great 5-star travel zoom with very good value for money. Who does not detect this problem at his camera, in my view, can strike without hesitation.
Addendum 15.10.2012:
It actually seems to be the case that some reviewers and commentators this AF tremors have (see also new review of "Ivan"), while others do not (see, for example. B. Comment by "Szerejko Grzegorz" to his review). There is only one thing: buy lens, test, maintain, if necessary. Journals and other forums have not yet ruled on the matter.

Have a new trial started, this time on the other traders in the hope that the faulty batch is now out of the trade. Was unfortunately again nothing. The same old problem ... On 6 - 8 week wait for repair service, as reported elsewhere, but I have no desire. ** Desperate **
