This cable is available at Amazon from various providers at different prices, after some back and forth I decided on a price in the middle. I can not assess whether it would now work out cheaper absolute. Eager and naive I immediately my Yamaha PSR-270 (it has been around the 14-15 years under his belt) connected to my MacBook Pro. In Mac own recording / sound program GarageBand indeed arrived that I had plugged a MIDI port, but also not more. After some around plugging came me then but the idea that it might well lack the driver. Property me this so then down at Yamaha loaded [...] installed, for safety's sake restarted again (maybe you go without), the whole new connected and lo and behold, perfect. Does everything super transmitted without noise and problems, the sound corresponds to my ears that of the piano. More I have not tried, it just wanted to test rapidly at first on its functionality. Only confusing, but as my research (Yamaha side and another) has confirmed the labeled IN connector OUT connector must in the OUT jack and vice versa in the IN jack. Looks like has probably always been so.
Whether the cable long will it or not, I can not say it does its purpose and of course saves me a lot of costs compared to the original Yamaha cable.
Maybe I need to read someday change, but as I said for me it sounds like the piano, doing what it should and all at a great price.
