With "The Sea" Melanie C presents a thoughtful album with a lot of depth, a lot of emotion and a lot of individuality. Sound-wise, it relies on pop music with some rock and Elektrolementen, manages However, compared to the majority of pop competition, fresh and new sounding. Lyrically it goes on the record to the detachment of the past ("Burn") to begin the sometimes not very simple attempt to look ahead ("Get out of here") and a new life ("Weak"), to hope for better times ("Let There Be Love") and sometimes just once to forget everything and to live for the moment ("Think about it"). Rounding out the whole finally wonderful by Melanie Cs voice that you could probably hear from millions. I can not tell which song at the end is my favorite, because I wholeheartedly believe really each individual.
The album thus presents itself very close in content. The title "The Sea" and the eponymous title track fits perfectly into this context: Most certainly know the feeling of standing on the seashore, to listen to the waves to look at the distant horizon, breathe fresh air, just think - and to make a decision: "All my life I've been a dreamer, now it's time to become a believer." (something like: "All my life I have dreamed, now I begin finally to believe!") It is this feeling conveyed Melanie C with their album "The Sea". For this great work there are of course five stars and an absolute buy recommendation!
