I am a professional with a Nikon D300 road. However, since these approximately 1.5kg weighs and does not fit in your pocket, I was looking for something small with good image quality and ergonomics.
I have also tested the direct competition as the Olympus PEN and Panasonic GF-1 - but the Samsung surpasses in all points:
- Handling: fits comfortably in your hand; thus very comfortable to wear for a longer time
- Built-in viewfinder (namely electronically - therefore some delay, but very useful, and if you come from a D300 wants what hot)
- Very thoughtful arrangement of the control buttons; you find yourself in a few minutes and cope with all the functions directly available (ISO, White Balance, ....)
- Weight: 18-55 with the 450 grams - so not worth mentioning
- Size: the 30mm f / 2 to fit in the insert pocket of my sweatshirts (bulges then of course - what does not look good, but it does fit in) ;-)
- The AMOLED screen is great! Since it does not need a swiveling display, because you can hold the camera with arms outstretched over his head and still recognize what you photographed
Little things:
- The closure of the battery compartment comes on too easily. Can sometimes be that you inadvertently open the. However, since the battery has an extra locking lever it can not fall out.
- The images are relatively slowly written to the card. Therefore, you have 2 seconds delay until you can control the image. No real downside in my opinion - but it may bother some
For Mac users:
- A very very good RAW converter program: RAW Developer. In many respects even better than Capture One 5 I use professionally.
All in all a more than successful camera from Samsung.
You can tell that they have made a lot of thinking about the best assortment of features and layout, etc..
If from now on with me everywhere with you!
