Accustomed to Nintendo, I bought the xbox one to support the Wii U that is neglected by third editor. Although I had a PS3 I never had Xbox, so I am writing this review as someone who discovered the platform for the first time ...
Let us first of two to three points that surprised me:
- The drive installation. I was a little afraid that I should spend my time waiting games are installed, but in reality it can run games during installation. The Xbox first install the files needed to start the game and offer to run the game as soon as he is ready. Next game and the installation mode (disk or download), it takes between 20 minutes and half an hour. For Assassin's Creed IV, he offered to start the game while downloading was only 10%.
- No real Live Gold in the box. I expected to get a free month of Live Gold, well no. It is only a 14-day trial offer, and it is not a true subscription "gold". Indeed, for multiplayer in games, no worries, you can play it like being a Gold member. By cons, to enjoy free games and offers on the Store, you have to subscribe and pay a real Gold subscription. The trial offer serves only to test the multi-player games.
- Retract the codes on the computer. Return codes games with the joystick is not practical. But good news, we can connect to its count on the Xbox.com website and enter the codes on pc. The installation will start immediately on the console! Except for Assassin Creed Unity, where I had to go into the store and start the installation from there, I guess because it's a novelty!
- It took a long time to find my feet on the interface. And especially in the beginning to find the preferences menu. To access all what you have on the console, you must go to "my games & app", there you will find what you need. Note that I do not use Windows, someone already used to the Metro interface will be easier to take the system by hand.
Then, back to some problems I had with the console:
- Problem area:
1. In fact, I directly put the English language for console games in English - the English voice acting is often better quality than the French dubbing. But the problem, the Xbox offers me while Anglophone regions! No way to choose English language and region Belgium! I chose Ireland then to have prices in Euro on the Store. But the unfortunate consequence of blocking the addition of a form of payment. Indeed, my billing address starts Irishman format, therefore, impossible to address my Belgian! This does not change the content, which it is linked to the account address xbox ... But a new problem arises!
2. For Xbox account, the area was France and not change! Maybe it's because I've activated the Live Gold offer with a French code ... So, again, no way to add a means of payment, as he wanted a French address! Fortunately, this is resolved on a fluke ... I could add my Paypal account, not on my xbox account but on my Microsoft account, and 24h after the accounts are synchronized and I Paypal is add to my payment on the site xbox.com with my correct address. But this was done only on the site but not in the console ... So, I have bought Tomb Raider (on sale for 20) on the site and not on the console ... So for games it does not matter, for against the DLC are not available on the site ... I'll probably use prepaid cards if I have to buy DLC ...
- 1 Freeze!
The same evening I had my first freeze with the console on Forza Horizon 2. Note that another game settled along I was playing ... and it is not known reproduced. After a few seconds, the game is closed to itself and I returned to the "Home". No need to reboot the console so that is a positive point!
- MKV and DLNA
I replaced my Blue-ray player for the Xbox One. To read files from my PC, I use a DLNA network. But problem for mkv 720p, large compression default come to ruin! Support for MKV and DLNA network is relatively new, so I hope the problem will be solved with a future update ... Note that USB, playback of MKV is no problem, am income the method of transfer duty while an external hard disk ...
- The helmet that does not make much sense
In the box, there is a headset ... Very bad quality! Plastic hard enough, not adjustable headphones are headphones are pretty uncomfortable ... And it is only Mono, with one hp on the right side. Finally, it only works for the cat ... Well ... apparently I tested with Horzon Forza 2 and Assassin's Creed IV and I did not have the game around on the helmet ... We also regret that Microsoft offers a headset directly with the connection handle, not a jack headset, and the adapter controller. Purely commercial choice to force people who want to use another headset to buy an additional accessory ...
Finally, here are the strong point of the console:
- Quiet but still hot
Microsoft Great neat internal design of the console, so that even if it is heated, it is silent. Indeed, if we cut all sounds we hear a slight hissing ventilator, but it is inaudible in normal game, and if you watch TV. The console heats anyway, and it will take good care of leave space author of the ventilation zones ... But overall, Microsfot carry out its internal design so that everything cools properly.
- Sublime Games!
The first game I start this is Forza Horizon 2, even if it is very beautiful is that what I was expecting, I was not surprised!
By cons, when I launch Assassin's Creed IV, with its prologue on a Caribbean island and its games of shadows and light, it was something else! Especially with its superb soundtrack that comes out of my home theater! There, it was the slap, and I realized the potential of this new generation!
- A perfect controller.
I've always heard that the Xbox controllers was the best, but I've never not test. With big hands, I often have problems with nintendo joysticks (Fu ** ing Nunchuck!) And especially with that of the PS3, xbox controllers reputation was an important factor in my choice. And that reputation is well deserved! Hold perfectly in the hands, and the handle is totally forgotten! No pain only appeared after several hours, and quality of analog triggers enables a fairly precise control! Not disappointed, and even pleasantly surprised!
- A complete multimedia center
I bought the Xbox for one to replace my blue-ray player, and she did everything he was doing: blue-ray & dvd-video (with upscaling) USB file playback and DLNA, YouTube, and Netflix. No regrets there, even if I have to buy the remote control. For occasional use, the controller does the job but for everyday use, a remote control will be more convenient.
Furthermore, there is a regrettable lack: backwards compatibility!
- I admit this would have me play old games from 360. Having keeping my PS3 a year, there are some games that I missed, like the first assassins creed The Batman " Arkham ... ", the former Forza, etc. Able to buy at lower prices the 360 version play on One was a definite plus! Too bad!
And PS4?
After deciding to buy a next-gen console, the question arose: xbox one or PS4? Here's why I chose the Xbox One:
- The quality of the controller. I have not tested the PS4 controllers, but the One handles fills me completely! So no regrets!
- The multimedia side. I replaced my Blue-Ray player by one, so we had it to do all that was my drive. And aside from the quack with DLNA and MKV (which will surely be corrected), it is! So no regret either!
- Some excluded as Forza and Halo. Gran Turismo on PS3 had disappointed me, so I wanted to test the Forza series, what I did with Forza Horizon 2. The gameplay is more arcade than I thought, but this is a great game! I'll try to find the 5 Motorsport at reduced prices. Also note that the One will temporarily excluded for the next Tomb Raider, so no regrets about that either! (No opportunity to test the Halo collection)
- The price. I was one of the lucky ones to get this package at a reduced price with the new COD Free or console + 3 games for 370! It was a moment I thought to buy, but this job made me leap ... Overall, ps4 packs a bit more, a little below 400, but n 'There were no packs with games that interested me.
A word about the games:
Since this is a pack, we must talk about games that came with!
- The fact that it is paperless is not a problem for me, I have a good connection and an unlimited amount, but it's about if you have a slow connection or a quota, that's a lot to download. It takes time too, Assassin Creed Unity download starting a little before I go to sleep, and the next morning he was still only 93%! But hey, you can start the game as he always downloads. For example, Assassin's Creed 4 could start while the installation was only 10%, and I started the adventure Solo while the multiplayer is still installed, and there is no had worries! There is therefore no need to wait for hours before playing!
- Assassin's Creed IV
I played the original Assassin's Creed on PS3 and I did not really hooked. Too slow, too little nervous, etc. So, I have long hesitate with the pack FIFA 15, because I like the football games as well. But hey, since bug reports on FIFA 15 and FIFA 14 is not very expensive, I thought I was going to attempt the adventure Assassin's Creed. Especially here we are treated to two games to one in the other packs.
Already soon the launch is the visual slap! The game is beautiful, texture quality is very good, and there is almost no aliasing! Added to this the superb soundtrack themed Caribbean pirates, and total immersion!
The game-play has also evolved and is a little more action than the first AC, even if we always have infiltration missions, etc. But it is a style that I like better.
The only downside is the key to running is the same as for climbing ... So, when we want to run, Edward will hang on to something on the side and we will lose time ... even failed in the mission! Too bad!
Overall, therefore, it remains an excellent game and I do not regret having chosen this pack!
- Assassin's Creed Unity
I intend to finish the IV before running it, so I can not say much. But the first echo is positive even if it is about a few bugs, which I imagine will be corrected by updates. So by the time I go finished the IV, I hope all will be well patched as necessary!
In summary, in this package you will have:
- An Xbox One, which is almost perfect as the next game media.
- A wireless controller, which is perfect with one battery set. Batteries do not bother me, I used rechargeable account. I will buy the battery pack only if I play a lot and I have to change the batteries too often.
- The game Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag (download) which is excellent!
- The game Assassins Creed: Unity (download) that seem to suffer from some teething problems, but that looks as good as the previous AC.
- A wired Micro headset with microphone to be connected to the controller, which is very poor and has only a "headset" and serves a priori that cat.
- Case A rather large external power supply. Some are criticized, but I prefer to have it externally rather than in the same console. Indeed, this kind of thing can sometimes be heated, so externally, it is not involved in the heating of the console. Personally, he hid in a corner of the TV stand to dimension, so it is not visible and can be heated in peace. For those who have a Wii U, this block is slightly bigger than the block of the Wii U.
- An HDMI cable. Still happy because it is the only video output. For sound, you have a choice of HDMI or an optical audio output. For the latter, no cable supplied, it will be necessary to buy one if you do not have one. For Internet connection, you have the choice between WiFi or an Ethernet jack. No network cable, it will also buy one if you do not have one.
- A trial offer for Live Gold 14 days. As stated above, this is not a "real" gold subscription. You have access to multiplayer as gold, but to enjoy the offers on the Store, it will take out a true Gold subscription.
In conclusion,
An almost perfect console that has just two to three details that angry, as the management of regions and the quack of MKV to DLNA. In addition, the bundle does some task compared to the console, with a limited trial offer at the Gold, and headphones to the regrettable quality. Moreover, even if it was not a problem for me, the fact that the games download or to cause concern among those who have a slow connection or a given monthly quota. For these small details, I only takes 4/5.
But if I had to rate the game experience is 5/5 no problem, and for the multimedia side, it would be 4.5 / 5 because of DLNA yet entirely made the point, and pubs in 'Youtube application I did not with my old drive or on my Wii U.
