A tip for all owners of this model: have extensively studied me with the image quality and found after extensive testing that the 18MP (megapixel) are interpolated, that is that not reflected the true picture size here but the image is projected.
A perfectly sharp image on the WX100 reached when you shut expects the default set 18MP image on the PC (eg. With professional image editing software) to 8 (!) Megapixel.
The Sony has a number of levels of resolution: 18MP, 10MP, 5MP, VGA (all 4: 3) and 13MP and 2MP (both 16: 9)
This was followed by the next lowest setting of the camera (10MP, 4: 3) created a series of photographs. This is apparently true, native resolution nor to others. So could a picture quality similar to the Nikon 1 J are achieved, as we all know, also only has 10MP - but it provides sharp images.
Compare Prices and costs (e) the Nikon 1 J but twice as much as the Sony WX100 with similar good image quality. Thus, top price-performance for Sony.
Conclusion: if it (still) did not know: megapixels are long gone everything. Those wishing to take sharp pictures, the Sony WX100 a to 10MP and has saved as a bonus even half the storage space (3 instead of 6 MB per image).
Although 18 MP sounds good, but is out of focus. 10MP sound like much, but you get excellent pictures.
