The whole gives a tasty cocktail that bears sometimes smiling, sometimes meditating ...
Note some scenes of anthology (like building a house in one night!) Or some characters worthy of San Antonio (as the gravedigger Requiem).
A very good read served in the language pure, precise and expressive of Marcel Ayme!
I extended this reading by watching the film with Lambert Wilson and I have to say I was a little disappointed because the film has so simplified the novel and its characters that it has become a bit cartoonish. Fortunately Jean Carmet (extraordinary in the role of Requiem) saves the whole.
