Amazing piece of writing

I have just finished The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller (the winner of the Orange Prize 2012) and I must say it is a hard book to put down (Hence my unusual need to write a short review on Amazon).

The story is set in Greece in the Age of Heroes and it is a retelling of Homer's Iliad and The Tragedy of Achilless Death in the battle for Troy.

Beautifully descriptive and heart-achingly lyrical, this is a love story as sensitive and intuitive as any
You Will Find (The Daily Mail).

I could not agree more !!

The love story, though, is between Patroclus (in awkward and young exiled prince) and Achilles, son of a king and a goddess.

This was obviously enough reason for some people to throw the book in the bin (see amazon.com reviews for details).

Well, Their loss. "The Song of Achilles" is an amazing piece of writing if you manage to keep an open mind
