By writing "one of the most important events in history," but I shortcuts betrayed the vision of the author, for whom May 29, 1453, the day of the fall of Constantinople, is only that of an already mature fruit long time. The decline of the Byzantine Empire, the progressive advance of the Turks in the Anatolian peninsula, indifference of Rome and the Catholic sovereigns towards the Orthodox neighbor carried the seed capitulation of ancient Byzantium. In this wonderfully accessible book (abundant references and notes are returned at the end of the album), the context is clearly stated and the last days of Constantinople are related with many details. Although the author sometimes betrays an ethnocentric unsavory in these politically correct times, it treats made with as much respect as his readers. Recommended reading.
