The survey Campbell recounts a survey (in China over 20 years) and the conclusions of much research (the bibliography is 50 pages written in small print) that lead to the result to prevent or even reverse the course of many diseases "civilization" (cardiovascular disease, cancer, obesity, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, etc ...) a simple vegan diet (no animal products: meat, fish, milk, eggs) made from whole foods ( brown rice, wholemeal bread, wholemeal pasta etc ...) is necessary and sufficient!
In the following chapters Colin Campbell explains why these data never reaches the public: Merchants lobby of milk, meat, eggs, pharmaceutical companies, the sums involved are pharamineuses, let alone of Physicians and Surgeons (double and triple bypass surgery, prostheses of all kinds, etc ...) which would be deprived of their livelihood and their power ...
He also unearthed some very early studies that talked about this relationship between animal protein and disease.
It overlaps with other readings I've done since I was veggie (especially to verify that there was no health risk to be veggie) except that here it seems very scientifically substantiated: in fact it ' is common sense, we return to the origin where the man was eating mostly unprocessed, even if his body allows him to eat a little meat or fish to survive when there are no plants available. I read a lot of other books that explain that the teeth (no fangs to kill the prey) and digestive system (intestines that create long putrefaction of animal flesh, carnivorous animals have very short intestines) of the man have to eat plants rather than animals.
I discovered it very recently, I said that it's not at all why I'm vegan is by ethical concerns (animal rights) first and also for environmental reasons and no matter to me that others are omnivores, carnivores or veggie, as long as I eat what I want.
Only downside, the distinction is not made clear between good and bad fats. By taking this survey to the letter, we may think that the good fats (vegetable oils of organic cold pressed, especially those that contain omega 3) are not necessary for health. To me this means is that the recommendations are addressed to Americans that the intake of fat comes mainly from animal products.
To read whether one is vegan or not, and provide (or pay) to friends who struggle against a civilization disease (disease of prosperity), if we really love them, hoping they will read it ...
