I use the Samsung UE55H6470 now for almost 3 weeks and have tested it as art amorous Multimedia Freak now in great detail.
The TV replaced me with a 5 year old Samsung LE46B650. Before that I had for 3 years a 46 inch predecessor of Samsung. So I can now look back on good eight years experience with LED TV's and it's fascinating what has been done in time so everything.
What a striking directly upon delivery: The carton has become rather small, despite the jump from 46 to 55 inches.
After unpacking and the direct comparison with the predecessor is also quickly became clear why.
The frame of the UE55H6470 is at each of the four sides saturated 5 (!!) cm narrower. Instead previously 6cm frame width there are now only 1cm. Even in the depths was harmed massively something that previously 9cm on now well 6cm. Thus the 55 inch television is hardly bigger than his 5 years old with 46 inch predecessor, despite a good 30% more viewing area.
In addition, the UE55H6470 with 16 kg whopping 8 kg lighter !! We had absolutely no problem to transport the box with 2 people and to mount the TV on the wall mount.
I think it's phenomenal! In this direct comparison becomes clear what has been done technically in the few years.
Included with the TV is located next to the actual device a sleek pedestal, a normal remote control, a stylish Smart Control remote control, a CI card adapter, an IR blaster, a cable holder, four adapter for VESA wall mount, 2 active 3D eyeglasses, the power cable, a Quick Start Guide and warranty information.
Not included a complete manual, which I think is pretty weak from Samsung. One can download this course or view the e-Manual in television itself. I personally is in such a technology-monster but rather a printed manual.
Before wall mounting I testhalber only bolted the stand. The instructions for this is only illustrated and with the extremely small representations barely legible. I then scanned unnerved and enlarged on the PC to 200%, then could be seen as reasonably proceed. Again, to improve this my request to Samsung, not every customer has 120% eyesight.
As with other reviews to read already there is obviously at the base mounting a quality problem from which I am also affected.
On the stand, a mounting plate is first attached with four screws, then the foot is inserted with this same plate in an indentation of the TV and then locked with 4 screws. Then provides you the TV on, he is with me left a good 1.5 cm higher than the right! Even after two-time clean off and re-screwing the problem has not been solved. After all, the pedestal was turn with me still, for other customers or not this succeeds only after significant loosening of the fixing screws, which the stability of the structure is not conducive to safe.
Here is the large number of cases described in my opinion clearly constitutes a deficiency, the Samsung should really be known and should have been stopped long ago.
The wall mounting proved unproblematic, but for models from 55 inches must be followed is to use the supplied wall mount adapter, which should prevent a too deep screwing the VESA screw.
The first impression on the wall is: Schick, but not nearly as large as expected.
The changes directly but if you actually watch TV, because the approximately 30% larger surface area but is clearly visible then.
Striking is definitely the panel surface. This reflects long no longer as strong as its predecessor but has a irritating at first grayish-milky color. At first I thought there would be a protective film on it but that was not the case. The panel is actually so coated / constructed.
This makes fortunately not negatively noticeable in image quality. As almost always the default settings are initially completely outshone. After a short Internet search I found some settings suggestions and tinkered from my optimal setting. You can find them / her bottom which is of course just always be considered very subjective this topic.
At such a powerful TV to assess the conventional SD image is actually casting pearls before swine. On the one hand there are huge differences in the broadcast transmitter-dependent (eg Tele 5 to Pro7) and secondly a SD picture looks so ugly the more the larger the TV is.
In this 55-inch model even the best SD picture can therefore also only accept of good can be no question. This would be the fault of the TV but wrong, for even cheaper TVs nowadays are almost invariably get the maximum possible in the situation when upscaling.
My conclusion for the UE55H6470: Much better, you can not show on a 55-inch SD picture. Prima!
The real challenge is the representation of HD content and here is the Samsung from its best side. Both the broadcast in 720p HD channels of internal TV-tuner, as well as my VU + Solo² receiver are beyond reproach. A great, crystal clear and incredibly vivid image with no visible defects. Outstanding!
Topped the whole thing is only during playback of Full HD content in 1080p, with me from the Xbox360 and a BluRay player.
The BluRay version of Batman: The Dark Knight away skin an almost feet. An incredible picture!
Also watch the game in HD was conjured up in exceptional quality on the screen.
I could neither streaks, tightening, Clouding, banding, DSE or whatever recognize.
The panel is illuminated absolutely uniformly with me. For technological reasons, the black level is of course still not 100% perfect. As the dying plasma TVs and future OLED / AMOLED TVs are still a distinct eating better. Compared to my already good predecessor model the overall image perceived two generations but on. I had been worried at this point to me before but these have now fully resolved.
The UE55H6470 just makes a great picture!
Very excited I was to the 3D display using the two supplied active 3D glasses.
I've never seen a 3D movie before and got me some demos. First, the whole thing was a bit strange but after a few minutes you dive formally into the picture. Life of Pie was my first complete 3D movie. The Samsung 3D sets from my inexperienced point of view incredibly well. A real experience!
Next, I tested the Smart Hub.
Was immediately apparent that the built quad-core CPU finally allowed a reasonable to use the online content. One can for example easily youtube videos and the evening news as a library see the Internet browsing (mouse and keyboard can be connected to one of three USB ports, as well as wireless versions), let the kids in between daddeln a little game or multimedia content from USB Sticks, Smartphones represent or network computers.
Once the device is detected, the Samsung has all formats referred to it processed without objection. Also MKVS with DTS / DD / subtitles are played without problems.
Here, however, let me now turn to my opinion the biggest weakness of Samsung TVs from the year 2014. The network capability!
Here is the weak but to every nook and cranny. I would describe myself as a well-versed technically, but I am still at various points almost desperately:
- The TV detects smartphones appear only when you are in the same wireless network. As soon as the TV is connected via LAN, it did not work with me!
- The Screen mirroring is not working properly. My Tab Pro 10.1 is indeed most recognized, but there are black borders and playing videos hackelt the image or freezes. My grade 3 is detected only sporadically, usually disconnects after a few seconds. Too bad, because the screen mirroring function is actually very useful.
- WiFi Direct: Fair enough, but how one uses it? In the manual, there is no meaningful instruction to do so.
- My NAS can only be addressed if there activates the DLNA server. A simple SMB / NFS sharing with the option of a quick and convenient access order is not possible! Why this ????
- A separate software is needed to access PCs. Pure patronizing!
- The smartphone app detects the TV only occasionally, live streaming does not work at all and the oh so simple as to instructions to transfer content by wiping also does not.
The area network functionality is therefore, in my (and despite my) experience a construction site, I can neither understand nor accept in 2014. For this, a clear star deduction!
And now quickly about some individual features:
IR blaster: allows you to control, for example, a satellite receiver with the original remote control by directing the infrared signal. Works with my VU + Solo² good and makes it possible to place the accessory as invisible in the cupboard. Very useful extra feature!
Smart Remote Control: Interestingly replacement of the original remote control. Made possible by a built-in micro-a more or less well-functioning voice control and motion control. An einblendbares KeyPad you can do relatively quickly entering text and direct access to otherwise deeply nested functions. Nice gadget!
Internal Tuner: I've been using this for satellite reception, the tuning is done quickly, the program change very quickly, the displayed additional information on the channel makes sense. Only the station sorting is a joke. On TV itself I have not yet found a way to do this. But you can probably easy to do this on the PC and then import the channel list on a USB stick again. Nevertheless, a quick sorting on TV should be possible.
Recording / Timeshift: My Transcend USB 3.0 Stick was immediately recognized. Timeshift is no problem, just press the pause or play button, then is taken. Makes programming on the very extensive EPG works fine. However, I do not have a shortcut key for the recording library, always first on the USB stick / hard drive to be selected as a source / source to go but it is very annoying. In addition, no defined time jumps (such as 1 minute, 5 minutes, etc.) are possible but only a forward / rewind in 5 stages. As my VU + is of course much more comfortable. Nevertheless me a (barely) positive conclusion, the basic functions are fulfilled.
Data service HBBTV: Can the UE55H6470, I think that but totally unnecessary and have the service turned off directly as it slowed significantly in my opinion the service change and the forced display annoying.
Football mode: In my opinion, unnecessary as a goiter because Samsung did well lure World Cup still customers. The picture is completely outshone. Only the permanent recording can be useful when you just do not receive the program anyway.
Price: If you look on the net shop around (flash offering cashback, vouchers) you get this with high tech peppered TV for current 750. Here the incredible price erosion in consumer electronics in recent years is clear.
Value for money excellent!
Hidden Menu: is also possible as in previous years about the cascading-pressing Info / menu / mute and then Power. There you can the source input and the initial volume permanently assigned, for example. This option, however, use only with absolute caution !!! The TV can become unusable due to incorrect entries !! Who should thus are not familiar it better stay away.
All in all I can recommend the Samsung UE55H6470 almost unlimited. Only the Deasaster in the network functions prevent the 5 stars and would have led to me almost to a depreciation of 2 stars. Since the TV but otherwise can shine with a great image quality, brilliant features and a great price-performance ratio, I admit then still like 4 stars.
