I feel that at the end of this reading is fairly mixed. Amateur Historical Romances with Highlanders, this is with great pleasure that i started this book but I lai closed a little disappointed and frustrated. Yet all the ingredients that I love in this kind of history were present: - Kidnapping: For those who read HR on the Highlanders, you will not be surprised by this recurring theme. Historically proven, kidnapping moon was the favorite ways of Scots to take a wife, and so what is sallier Scottish clan or English for political reasons. So this is with pleasure that I saw that this story was starting on this theme followed throughout the flight across the Highlands conducive to conflicting reports of the two heroes who end course in closer. This is the case here for Amelia who died of fear of the Boucher, Duncan MacLean, will try several times to escape. But it will eventually understand that is not the most dangerous one believes what! - An aristocratic heroine and a hero to the barbarians sides: Here heroine, Amelia, is a young English aristocrat engaged to a famous colonel of the army of His Majesty and didnt really a character dedicated to the rebellion or willingness dindépendance. This is what I missed. Not without dintelligence, Amelia na not really "body". She lives her life daristocrate without asking any questions, and is ready to marry a man who saved the life of his father. During his captivity with Boucher, naura she stops wanting to run away, not because she wants to regain his freedom but rather to find his quiet life and marry the one intended for him. I have not been very attracted to his character, and the fact how willing the beginning until the end change the temperament of my displeased Duncan. Duncan MacLean, it appears, at least initially, as the Highlander type of this kind of history. It is strong, sexy, fierce, it is a warrior and kill for his country and his honor. Revenge is therefore quite natural to him, and tries to kill him WHEN IT dAmelia fiance as punishment of a terrible crime that he finds it and decides to lenlever. Duncan while the barbarian, as I like but i ended up being disappointed also by his character, too smooth, not enough emphasized by lauteure and in the second half of the book he had lost all shine in my eyes.
- A true villain: The least that can be said this is lon Quici we really dealing with a true "bad guy" !! Lieutenant Colonel Richard Bennett, dAmelia fiance, will prove to be a scoundrel, but a nameless junk under an appearance of brave soldier who pack for his country and his king with honors. Why everything is fine, that's fine. But pity that it is so little present and its fate is too fast, too steep so that he had much more material to develop its role in history.
- A plot without dead time: This book is no exception to the rule, the plot is set up immediately with the meeting of the two heroes from the first two pages and then the adventure begins. Only the second part of the book slows it all, and erased a little my interest. Too bad
Although this book reads very easily, it has not awakened in me a particular enthusiasm. The beginning is much better than the rest that sessouffle quickly. The secondary characters, like Angus for example, are quite interesting, and i hope that his story will be a little hectic and his bloodthirsty warrior temperament reserve beautiful surprises me in the suite. A pleasant reading, that will not leave me an extraordinary memory, but nevertheless opens the way to a series in which I hope to saméliorera and also i hope that the legend of "Butcher" continue.
