Joking aside - actually this purchase was unnecessary for me as Hobbyknipser. Do I own the Tamron 90mm but already a very decent fixed focal length in this format. And yet I could not let old Gearhead and had slammed shut. The good test results, the many positive reviews and not least the good rating on relevant known forum pages were decisive access here.
To swing no long speeches because most of it was already said by the professionals here, I'll be time to my personal conclusion:
The 85er EF Canon is an excellent FBW, both full frame (6D) and the Crop (600D). Everything the Tamron 90 may, can this objective - better just give each a small piece. Better edge sharpness, better resolution, of course, a little more intensity, a faster and more precise AF and (not least) a little "wertigere feel" due to the material.
The Tamron has often been "very good" - in this Canon can therefore only say: "excellent" + buy recommendation!
Addendum: the review I've written from the perspective of a portrait-clippers. Meanwhile, I was asked if the objective unless suitable for macro. Mmm. "Yes and no". The lack of stability is not the problem because macro usually takes place from the stand and of course the focal length is also OK for but the problem is the minimum focusing distance of 80cm. DAS, the Tamron 90mm higher (30cm).
