The following products I found in principle:
1 Hama Optical Splitter 1-2 (10 Euro)
2. Various mechanical switch of Profitec and other providers (5 to 20 euros)
3. Zehnder OM-01 Digi-Opto-Switch (70 Euro)
4. AUVISIO PE4216 (79 Euro)
5. Gefen GTV-DIGAUD-241 (89 Euro)
6. Oehlbach Opto Selector (136 Euro)
I tested "Hama Optical Splitter 1-2" for 10 euros and "Profitec Digital Optical Switch" for 9 Euros.
To make it short: The Hama product has not worked for me. But that did not surprise me, because already indicates the product name to use as a distribution of a source signal to two output devices.
My second attempt was then the Profitec-product, although it has in the two existing reviews as total failure very badly. In general let myself quite deterred by bad reviews of a department. In this case this was different and that because the Profitec-product could be sent as a single switch in the price range to 20 € per Amazon and thus also about Amazon Prime. This played a key role for me. Because I do not want to spend a week to wait for a part in which I then realize after 5 minutes that it is not working.
When testing the product Profitec my suspicions confirmed, given the very different reviews of the switch to 20 euros. This is just purely mechanical cheap parts from plastic, in which there is significant production tolerances and the function depending on the constellation (equipment and cables), or not just work. It is probably more or less a gamble whether a switch from Profitec, Sunshine Tronic or HQ in violet, silver or anthracite work under certain conditions. For me at least the Profitec product works perfectly in both short Toslink cables (0,5m) as well as a high-quality long cable (Gold 1,5m).
A word about the alternatives above.
4) AUVISIO PE4216
If the effective switch would not work, I had made up my mind. The equipment has been tested already successful in a magazine (Home Vision), it has a remote control, it is not a pure optical switch, but even still a HDMI switch and also looks more appealing than any other device. And then when I actually times should replace my surround system to another, can be a Toslink / HDMI switch certainly sell better again as a pure Toslink switch.
to 5) Gefen GTV-DIGAUD-241
The change of the source signal by Dipswitch I find inappropriate for such a relatively expensive solution.
to 6) Oehlbach Opto Selector
Before I spend personally as much money for a pure switch, I'd rather invest my money in a new output device with more optical outputs.
