Just think of "Greatest Love of All". The hymn to the dignity and self-confidence is not merely a simple but beautiful song that still sing every girl and many a boy in front of the mirror and dream away in adulthood. It shows the artistic character of the singer: she sings, so it is.
Or "Saving All My Love for You", the ballad about a love affair with a married man 'sung so sweetly, as if the girl only snacking on cakes and not the father.
Or "How Will I Know" which He-loves-me-he-loves-me-not-number, which tells the story of innocent young love and every good mood conjures the face. And all the other, less well-known songs that make this album a masterpiece: if the wistful "All At Once", the sensual "Hold Me" (with the jünst deceased soul singer Teddy Pendergrass) or the rhythmic "Thinking About Yiu".
Managed the technically new songs are all worked up, but what about this set so special, are the bonus offerings. Since you will find a previously unreleased a cappella version of "How Will I Know", which is free from any clutter and on the one hears only the soul pure voice of the singer. If you do not like the pop song otherwise, here you fall in love in it.
Some other remixes are also on the CD. And the ultimate live version of "Greatest Love of All", where you do not get tired of listening, and especially can not get enough. Here, unfortunately, just as audio. Even more exciting, it is then on the accompanying DVD. Then only a short interview with Whitney Houston and Clive Davis, in which they report briefly about their feelings and the making of the album. Then follows the already published on the greatest hits DVD live version of "Home" (from the movie "The Wizard of Oz") 'their very first television appearance from 1983. But then two live performances that were not previously on DVD were available: "I Am Changing" by an Arista Records Celebration (Arista Whitney Houston's mother label) before the album release. The highlight is undoubtedly the live performance of "You Give Good Love" (1987 at the Soul Train Awards). One of the best versions of this song.
Rounding out the DVD with the official videos for the singles of the album, with the ultra cheesy "All At Once", which was also sometimes single, is cut out and until today there is no official publishing. Pity! But it remains the only criticism. Because even the booklet is very nicely designed, with beautiful images, each with a foreword by Whitney Houston and Clive Davis and an extensive interview with the latter, which explains the background of the album (in English of course). A successful new edition that celebrates the beginning of this great career, this stylized to the voice of our generation singer due.
