Used to be Special Agent Pendergast always shrouded in mystery, another, very intimate chapter of his life is revealed in this book. His wife Helen. But not only the reader finds only now more and more out facts about his past, and Pendergast himself must discover that the only person he once completely trust, and led a double life a secret kept from him.
Also, the reader learns new information about the mysterious Constance Greene, which is the only supernatural / Mysterious in this novel. In addition to the antagonist of Fever Dream, who has concocted a clever plan, he may surprise Pendergast and out of the way the story of Constance Green is the second highly interesting storyline for the next novel.
The fascinating for me at the Preston / Child novels is the symbiosis between reality and fiction. Again and again I google a few things, places, people from the books and find out: which there are actually. Cleverly invented is housed in facts. Brilliant.
A clear buy recommendation for those who are in power. And who has followed the Pendergast novels to date - the need to buy this book anyway and will be thrilled again.
