Easily Globalia is immersed in the universe which is a contemporary vision of the future. Jean-Christophe Rufin depicts the likely evolution of Western societies in us based on their present defects pushed to their limits. Globalia is the G7 + 1 union into a mega nation which over time becomes a soft dictatorship called universal democracy ... Social protection is also thinking about the Stasi in the former GDR. Politicians have become puppets; a handful of old men, the great leader of the main trusts, have the power and knowledge of the past. For basic quidam, time is summarized in the present or near future. The elimination of the past and therefore of history strengthens national cohesion and eliminates revenge-seeking trigger of many current conflicts. Terrorism has become a "strategic weapon" that serves as a national enemy, a bogeyman but at the same time fosters a sense of belonging to the company globalienne. But terrorism is it the real enemy? Time will tell if the vision of Jean-Christophe Rufin is worthy of that of Orwell's 1984. Today we are still likely to be of Baikal, Kate or Puig but what will it be for future generations? Anyway, reading this book is a pleasure that leaves a bittersweet feeling of truth about the evolution of our society and leaves this question open: Have we taken the first steps towards Globalia ?
